Our beginner surf lessons at Dude Surf School are designed for anyone who wants to learn to surf, have fun, and be guided by experienced instructors. These lessons are perfect for people who have never surfed before or have very little ocean experience and want to build confidence from the very first wave.
A surf lesson is a unique and unforgettable experience: putting on your wetsuit, picking up your board, running to the water, warming up while scanning the waves, and feeling the joy of riding your first whitewater wave.
How Our Beginner Surf Lessons Work
You only need to bring a swimsuit and the motivation to give it a try. We take care of everything else!
Each beginner surf lesson is divided into three main moments: warm-up, explanation, and fun. After putting on your wetsuit and picking up your surfboard, we head together to the shoreline, where the warm-up begins. During this phase, you’ll do mobility exercises and activate your cardiovascular system, usually through traditional games and simple exercises designed to prepare your body for surfing.
Still on the beach, we move on to a brief theory explanation covering basic surf techniques, equipment, safety rules, and how the lesson will unfold in the water. This is the moment to ask questions and clear up any doubts. After learning the fundamentals of beginner surf techniques, you’ll put them into practice by training the movements on the sand that you’ll later perform in the water.
Then the fun really begins. With your board and everything you’ve learned, you’re ready to enter the water and start surfing. You’ll begin by catching whitewater and small waves, and as your confidence and level improve, you can start dreaming about bigger and more challenging waves.
At the end of the lesson, we leave the water together and return to the surf school, where you’ll store the equipment you used.
Each beginner surf lesson lasts 90 minutes.
